Evidence, after a long rain, of how our basement walls got bowed. We'll need to put in a french drain and re-slope the back yard.
While the yard was dug up, we took the opportunity to put in a french drain to capture and divert the water around the side of the house to prevent further basement seepage.
In preparation to expand the laundry room, with took out a large sweet gum tree
We made the front porch safer and better looking with a railing, and then powerwashed and stained/painted everything to clean it up.
Moving once again to the back yard (a year later), when the Amish boys built our room addition, we had them also pour a new sidewalk that was wider, higher, and sloped slightly away from the house.
We then regraded the back yard to steer the flow around the house instead of into the basement. Oh, and our neighbor's boyfriend the Sheriff took out the dead tree, and carted it off for firewood.
